Boy's Micro-Striped Shorts

Blank boys micro-striped shorts for embroidery: 95% cotton with 5% spandex, a small back pocket, 3 colorways, and 7 sizes from 12M through boys' size 6.

A short leg leaves less room than the 7-size pant, so the design goes small and high — the flat panel below the waistband, or the back pocket itself. The pocket is a single flat layer and behaves better under a dense stitch than the seam beside it. Keep applique clear of the hem, where the goods double.

Seven sizes, 12M through 6, measured flat:

• Waist: 7.5 in at 12M, 8.25 in at 2T, 8.75 in at 4T, 10 in at size 6
• The boys' shorts chart publishes waist only — ask us for an inseam if a design has to sit a set distance above the hem
• Waist is measured flat, so double it for the full circumference

All 3 colorways are summer colors: Red Stripe for the Fourth of July, Navy Blue Stripe as the year-round neutral, and Ice Blue for the lighter ground that photographs well against a white top.

These are built to finish an outfit rather than lead it, which is why the run is 3 deep instead of the 5 on our micro-striped pants — a shorts season is shorter than a pants season.
